Controls & Permissions¶
Roles¶
Every participant in a La Suite Meet room has one of three roles:
| Role | Description |
|---|---|
| Owner | Created the room. Has full control. |
| Moderator | Granted elevated privileges by the owner. |
| Attendee | Standard participant. |

Lobby¶
When lobby mode is enabled, new participants entering the room are placed in a waiting area instead of joining directly. The owner or a moderator must explicitly admit each person.
To admit a participant from the lobby: 1. Open the Participants panel 2. You will see pending participants in a "Waiting" section 3. Click Admit to let them in, or Decline to reject them
Muting participants¶
Owners and moderators can mute individual participants:
- Open the Participants panel
- Hover over a participant's name
- Click the Mute button
You cannot force someone's camera off — you can only mute their microphone.
Removing participants¶
To remove a participant from a meeting:
- Open the Participants panel
- Hover over the participant's name
- Click Remove (or the three-dot menu → Remove)
The removed participant sees a message explaining they were removed and cannot rejoin without a new invite.
Recording permissions¶
By default, only the room owner and moderators can start recording. Attendees can request a recording, which appears as a notification to the owner/moderator who can then approve it.
This behavior can be changed in the room configuration.
Requesting to speak¶
Attendees can raise their hand to signal they want to speak:
- Click the Raise hand button (✋) or press the corresponding shortcut
- The moderator sees a queue of raised hands in the participants panel
- After being acknowledged, lower your hand with the same button
Push-to-talk¶
Hold the V key to temporarily unmute your microphone while it is muted. Release V to mute again. This is useful in formal meetings where participants are muted by default.
Ending the meeting¶
Only the room owner can end the meeting for everyone:
- Click the Leave button
- Select End meeting for all
All participants are disconnected and the room session ends. The room itself (its name and settings) is not deleted — it can be reused for future meetings.
